ABOUT

MISSION

Values

Beyond these targeted programs, we aim to foster a sense of community and belonging among all young adults with epilepsy. To this end, we will host a speaker series and meet-ups to facilitate learning, sharing, and networking opportunities within the broader YAWE community, emphasizing the following values:

Authenticity

At YAWE, we believe in the power of lived experiences. Our programs and leadership will reflect this, with over 70% of our budget dedicated to roles that provide valuable work experience for individuals within the YAWE community.

Community Representation

Our leadership won't just talk the talk – they'll walk the walk. Our management team will consist of individuals from the Epilepsy Community, including Persons Affected With Epilepsy (PAWE) and caregivers, ensuring decisions are informed by personal experience and empathy.

Trust and Confidentiality

Respecting privacy is paramount to us, but we also value the transformative power of shared stories. We aim to create a safe space where YAWE members can confidently share their experiences with the broader public, fostering understanding and compassion.
